According to Wikipedia, a podcast is" a series of audio or video digital media files which is distributed over the Internet by syndicated download, through Web feeds, to portable media players or personal computers" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Podcast).
You can also use podcasts with ELL's in grades K-5 by having the students interview community members in small groups or you could have students interview teachers and staff members in the school. During the podcast students could take turns talking (Langer de Ramirez, 2010, p. 59).
