Social Networking

Social networking on the World Wide Web involves Web sites or programs that connect people, establish groups of people with the same interests, and they help facilitate communication and the sharing of information. Social network sites are Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter.

Why Twitter:
1. Classroom community
2. Exploring collabrative writing
3. Reader Response
4. A good way to make a quick announcement
5. Teachers are connecting their students to the real world
6. Students can connect with different classrooms around the worl

Why Facebook and MySpace:
1. Students can create pages for scientist, famous people, authors, historical figures, and muscisians. This can be an alternative to traditional research papers.
2. Older students can use Facebook for running clubs or sharing classroom information.
3. Facebook is easier than email to get information out quick.
4. Facebook encourages interactions.
5. Facebook can be used for language practice.
6. Facebook can encourage the practice of writing.
